Running Your Own Business - The Pros And Cons

When it comes to running your own business, it is generally accepted that you will have more "ups" than "downs." Most people like the idea of being their own boss. The money is usually better and you aren't answering to anyone, however one downside can be having to deal with employees.

During the start up of my business, I wasn't entirely aware of all the screening processes that I could run before I hired someone. With everything going on in the world today, having to worry about Homeland Security and Immigration is a very real concern for employers.

For example, just by running a pre-employment screening and background check I don't need to worry about hiring someone who is in the country illegally.

Another big worry is crime. It's not something we generally worry about, but I wouldn't want to hire someone who was in the habit of stealing from their employer! Another side of this is that if I hired someone who committed a crime while on the job I could be held liable!

I have found an online company to help me with all my background checks is MacDataAdvantage.com. They have many different types of background checks, even if I am unsure which screenings I need to run I can find the informaion on their site.
