Many families are having a great time decorating with Christmas lights. It is a good thing that Christmas decorations are no longer restricted to the indoors. With the availability of so many new products, the options for outdoor Christmas decorations are unlimited. And even with the same products there are enough variations to make every yard unique and different. And they bring so much enjoyment and Christmas spirit to neighbors and passers-by.

Outdoor Christmas decoration lights can be as simple as a few strings of light around the roof line of the house or a Santa Claus in the front yard. Santa Claus figurines have become a common Christmas decoration, with many configuration options. It won't take much to find a house that has Santa Claus in a sleigh on the rooftop with reindeer pulling the sleigh.

Outdoor Christmas decoration lights can be a great way to accentuate the religious aspect of Christmas. Great examples are a cross or a nativity scene. Angels offer another religious decoration that can be added to the display, without sacrificing the original theme.

Animated displays, or those that appear to move, are quite popular. These are often lights or figurines. The lights are arranged in a fashion to look like a character, blinking on and off in different areas to create the illusion of movement. Figurines are often three dimensional, with a small motor moving an arm, leg, or head of the character back and forth. An animated display offers a great deal of amusement and is a great Christmas decoration. Light outdoor landscaping with colored lights, rather than the simple white light used year around. A simple blue, green or red light bulb will offer a great change of pace and really make the home appear festive.

Another favorite is to take strings of lights in a variety of holiday colors and accentuate the various areas in the yard, such as the driveway or a bush in front of the house. You will find that this simple decoration goes a long way when it comes down to creating the holy spirit.

There are many other materials that can aid you to make your outdoor Christmas decorations as festive as humanly possible. E.g. you can shape wire into the object you would like to project. A few lights attached to the frame will make it look great, especially if the lights are colored. A wooden sculpture, painted and decorated with one or a few lights, will make for a very festive Christmas decoration.

Outdoors Christmas decorations offer a great deal of cheer during the holiday season. Simple decorations can create a fun atmosphere. The extravagant decorations can become larger than life. Have fun while decorating, as you bring Christmas joy to your neighbors and passers-by.
