Danger From Within - The Link Between Cardiovascular Disease And Hypertension

Hypertension is considered the "silent killer," and for good reason. The link between hypertension and cardiovascular disease is very real. Too often high blood pressure goes untreated due to mild symptoms and is therefore diagnosed too late. This is why stories of people only 35 years old dying from a sudden cardiac arrest are all too common. They need treatment but do not realize it until it is too late and their heart gives out.

The Statistics Prove the Link Between Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension

Cardiovascular disease and hypertension are extremely closely related. Over 60% of the patients who have moderate to severe hypertension will fall into the high risk category for cardiovascular disease.

Hypertension places and extreme amount of wear and tear and pressure on the heart. If it goes untreated, the heart will eventually give out. The symptoms for hypertension are clear but often go ingored due to high demands in ones professional life, inability to slow down and relax, or just not appreciating the symptoms and hoping they will go away.

Can You Control Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension?

Though there is medication to control hypertension this needs to be taken regularly and seriously which very few people do. Besides, you need to change your lifestyle without which there is little chance that you would get rid of high blood pressure. You need to eat healthy, exercise daily, cut down stress levels, avoid alcohol and stop smoking.

Hypertension is a national crisis that needs to be addressed with personal responsibility. The results could be a stroke or sudden cardiac arrest due to the hardening and thickening of the arteries. If people want to live a long and healthy life, they must take control of the disease and address it aggresively to defeat it.

There are many research studies which are looking into the possibility of making a drug that can reverse cardiovascular disease and these show promising results.
