Good Habits Out of Bad

Kenrick Cleveland

Habits, by definition, are habitual things we do. Whether it be a habit of needing that after dinner cigarette or biting your fingernails during a stressful period, we all are creatures of habit no matter how spontaneous we like to think we are.

What do all these examples have in common? Well, they're relatively negative conditions. Admittedly, twirling your hair or tapping your fingers on the table are rather benign, whereas smoking is not, but our framework for 'habits' is that they are something to be 'broken.'

Aristotle observed, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit."

We are what we repeatedly do.

What habit could you begin to establish today that would have the greatest positive impact on your life? They say twenty-one days is all it takes to make or break a habit. What if you got in the habit of listening to a light and sound session every morning for twenty-one days? Or better yet, the habit of addressing each and every of your prospects and clients with their unconscious hello?

You most immediate goal may be in the realm of the personal, like contacting your other than conscious and having a good conversation about what you want in life. When you make contact with your other than conscious, talk about consciously creating the space for 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each and ever day and make that a habit. Twenty one days of twenty minutes of cardio. That doesn't seem like an unachievable goal, does it?

Or maybe your immediate concern is business related. For 21 days program yourself to naturally use one persuasion skill each and every time you meet with a client. Or tell yourself you want to make contact with an affluent prospective client each day for 21 days. And after the 21 days are up, you've set yourself up to have a new, productive, positive habit.
