Sell Your E-book Online Part 1
Stephen Beck
My students often ask me how to set up a system to sell e-books online. Most of them want to set up a page with many links to other articles, free information, author bio, seminar schedules, and so forth. This is the wrong type of website to make when you want to sell your e-book. With all those links you will confused your reader. And we all know, a confused mind never buys.
So what's the best type of website to sell your e-book?
Your website should have only one subject your e-book. A single page site is the best way for marketing information products. By keeping all the information on one page, while removing all links except for the "Buy It Now", the entire focus of your audience is on your e-book.
It seems shocking in this day of "bigger is better", but a single page website with only one button is the best way to sell your e-book online. if your site has many links, your visitors will probably depart before they even consider whether to purchase your e-book. I have quite a few products listed on my website. However, my biggest and best products are sold using a single page website it's the best way, period.
Your website may have only one page, but certain information absolutely must be there. Find a great title, one that demands attention. Make it short and sweet. The average web surfer stays on a site for only seconds before moving on, and you only have one chance to get their attention. So write a title with them in mind. Define their problem and offer your solution.
Statistics are a common way to get attention. Did you know that in 2005, the average cost of a wedding skyrocketed to over $30,000? I'm shocked, and your visitors will be, too. If they have weddings on their mind, they will read on for more.
Your title, or headline is the most important piece of your website. You will either keep your visitors reading so you can sell your e-book. Or, you'll lose them and they will be off to the next site.
When you develop your website, spend most of your time writing your attention-grabbing headline. It will pay off in the long run. Part 2 will discuss the rest of your website and what important distinction you must make when you describe your product to your visitors.
