Before you start downloading any games to your Sony PSP there are some certain factors which you need to take into consideration first. The first thing that you should consider getting is a memory stick, which will then allow you to keep all the files that you accumulate in one place and at hand whenever you want to play them. So first off you need to check what operating system (firmware) is installed on your PSP and then you need to find games to download which are compatible with it.
Secondly you need to make sure that the file you have chosen to download ends in "PSP". Often you will find that most games on a lot of sites where you can download them from have shared them with other platforms. So only those that PSP on the end are actually compatible with the Sony PSP.
Plus you will soon discover that a lot of the games available for the PSP have also been compressed so you will need some sort of compression application in order to uncompress them. For Mac computers you will use something like Expander whilst for PC's which are running Windows then WinZip is often the most favored of all compression applications available.
After the files have been unzipped inside you will find a folder that contains two files. The first file is the one which you need to install on to your PSP as this is the one that contains the games information and which is the one you will use to play the game with. The other folder has come from the developer of the game and is known as the "read me" file.
But in order for you to actually get the games you have downloaded off of your PC and on to your PSP you need to connect the two together. There are two ways in which the games can be transferred from the PC to the PSP. You can either connect the two together using a USB cable which connects into a USB port on your PC and the USB port on the PSP. Or you can use a memory, which you transfer the files held on to your PC and then plug this into PSP and then move them from the memory stick on to it. But using the cable method you will need to press the home button on your PSP and then go into settings.
Once in the settings menu using the controls on your PSP you need to move down the area on the screen that says "USB Connection" and then press the "X" on your PSP. As soon as this has been done the memory stick inside the PSP connects to your PC and now all that needs to be done is the file in question has to be copied from one to the other. Also when you are doing any PSP game downloads or any other kind of PSP downloads it is important to remember to put them in the folder on your memory stick called "PSP>Game" or "PSP>Movie" or you may find that they do not work correctly.
