Will Free Alternative Energy Save Us?

Certain researchers have claimed taking energy out of the atmosphere is not only plausible but attainable.
Free energy has a nice ring to it. Yet is it even worth considering. While many say no a large following suggest it is not only real but very abundant, efficient and cost effective.
The emerging study of Free Energy is already split on it meaning. One sect believes it refers to the actual device needed in collecting the new energy source. While others believe it to be the process of transmitting the energy to earth.
I don't think even the most optimistic inventors believe in a machine that once turned on and never needing additional energy is possible.
Capturing the energy floating in outer space may seem impossible today, yet what about tomorrow. It was not long ago airplanes and atomic energy were thought crazy unattainable ideas.
One definition of Free Energy is it can be found in the Zero Point Field. Basically a quantum mechanical state of matter at its lowest possible state of energy. In this field vast amounts of the energy are available.
Believe or not in 1913 both Otto Stern and Albert Einstein suggested the use of Free Energy as a form of alternative energy. They called it residual energy.
In the study of quantum mechanics this energy is also called vacuum energy. The energy can be found in totally empty space. On description is similar to the froth found at the bottom of a waterfall.
The concept is certainly interesting. Although I think I will keep paying my electric bill for now. Whether it is real or not, I believe the research is a necessity in todays world situation. Anything we can do to reduce the environmental pollution is a plus.
