Do you think you know how to flirt? First, see if you're already following these 6 tips, and then we'll take it from there.
1. Smile. This sounds obvious, but it's actually controversial. One dating expert advises men not to smile too much when they're with women, because it signals "beta" male characteristics. Not smiling can generate a lot of tension in the right circumstances. However, the beneifits of putting a woman at ease usually outweigh all other considerations early on in the interaction.
2. Play off things she says or does. This is known as "passive" flirting, or "trigger banter". If you've ever been around a guy who "always" seems to have the right thing to say, you know how attractive women can find this. It's a sign of a quick wit and intelligence. Here's a secret, though. You don't have to just make stuff up on the spot. If you plan carefully you can come up with great "spontaneous-looking" responses to many common situations, and look brilliant when they happen. Example: a woman bends down to tie her shoe in front of you . . . you can say "wow, you're the third woman this week who has tried to propose to me. I'll have to get back to you later with my decision." If you don't like that one, make up your own and pull it out when the circumstance arises.
3. Be confident. Don't "act" confident. Just be confident. How do you do that? Well, get some interests other than women. Achieve something. Don't "neeeeeed" her to like you. Other than that, being confident is basically just being comfortable in a woman's presence.
4. Thumbs forward. What? How is this going to help you know how to flirt? OK, this is a little strange perhaps, but have you ever seen a guy with his shoulders rolled forward, and the back of his hands facing forward when he walks? That is a "beta" male posture. Check yourself on this. Make sure when you walk your arms swing naturally, and your thumbs point forward, so your hands are parallel with your body. Seriously, if you're doing this wrong, you have no idea how much this disqualifies you from the start.
5. Set an authority frame. Don't let her take on the role of your teacher. Girls will do this if you let them. Try to have things you can teach them. Teach them anything -- a tongue twister, the answer to a riddle, how to remember a list of numbers, whatever. Flirting will go much better if you establish yourself as the authority in the situation. And I'm not talking about taking a chauvanistic tone here. I'm just saying, be the one with the most to offer in the interaction.
6. Talk slowly. Slow it down, buckaroo. Check yourself frequently, and just slow it down. No, even slower. Seriously. Make them wait on your every word. Make them give you their complete attention. Draw them in to what you're saying. Let it register as you speak. Slow flirting is very sexy. Try it. You'll see.
