For the avid baseball fan, there is usually a secret list of favorite intended vacation spots to hit in their lifetimes. There is generally one particular city in every state. This city is usually home to one major league baseball team or another. For example, St. Louis Missouri would be the Cardinals, New York would be the Cub, and Pittsburgh would be the Pirates. If you could read this secret mental list, you would find that some of the cities are highlighted. These would be the homes of the more popular Major League Baseball teams. One of the cities highlighted on that list would be that of Houston Texas, home to the renowned Houston Astros.
Of course, if you do decide to go on your dream vacation to Houston, or treat someone you know to that special sports fan vacation, you will want to go during the gaming season so that you or your friend can actually see a real Houston Astros game being played. If you do, you will be amazed before you even get to the game. Looming on the horizon for anyone who is heading to see a game played will be the amazing Houston Astrodome. This has been quoted as "the eighth wonder of the world." The Astrodome is one of the most architecturally artistic stadiums in the entire world. It is almost twenty stories tall in height, over seven hundred feet in diameter, and covers a full nine acres of property.
Once inside, you will be equally amazed at the unbelievable size, as well as a few other aspects. This is one of the few enclosed baseball stadiums, requiring an immense amount of lighting. The ceiling is covered from one end to the other with thousands of feet of luminescent lighting. One thing you may or may not notice is that the Astrodome is actually air-conditioned. Can you imagine how much electricity it would take to cool an enclosure of this size? It is almost inconceivable. The leisure that it adds is well worth it.
While you are here, be sure and visit many of the wonderful local sports memorabilia shops to pick up some of the many items commemorating the pro players of the Houston Astros. One of the more popular Houston Baseball memorabilia shops is the Houston Sports Connection on Westheimer Road. In this fine sports shop you will find everything from baseball cards to signed autographed memorabilia.
Why bother spending one endless vacation trip after another every year in places that you would rather not be, experiencing things that you would rather not be doing. If you are truly a real baseball fan, take that mental list of vacations from your mind and put it on paper. View one great baseball team per year, every year, until your list is complete. At the top of the list, put the Houston Astros and make your next exciting vacation the Major League capital of the world, Houston Texas.
