A Bay Island Paradise, Guanaja Revealed!

Denise Clarke

Discover the small island of Guanaja located in the pristine waters of the Caribbean forty miles off the northern coast of Honduras. This Bay Island paradise is just two hours from many of the major southern airports in the US. Bordering Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador it is smack dab in the middle of Central America. Several of the major airlines service that area including TACA, American and Southwest Airlines.

The Bay Islands are made up of three large islands, Utila, Roatan and Guanaja. Utila is famous for the number of whale sharks that reside there. You can even dive with them! Roatan has several cruise ship docks and is strongly tourist oriented, while Guanaja has not enjoyed the same popularity, probably due to the fact there are no roads on the island and all travel must be done by boat or foot. Guanaja has the tallest peak, at fourteen hundred feet, several waterfalls and freshwater streams.

Guanaja, pronounced Gwa nah ha. I first heard of this Bay Island about five years ago. Recently I began researching the possibilities of retirement there.Let's face it folks, you do not want to outlive your money!

Who are these Baby Boomers that are getting ready to retire? Born between 1946 and 1964 they still have a lot of life left in them and they are willing to consider options other than the US to get the good life they deserve. Perhaps even south of the border!

If you want to lead a fairly active lifestyle you might want to go white water rafting, hiking, fishing, scuba diving or snorkeling. The Bay Islands are surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef and the pristine water of the Caribbean Sea. Maybe you want to slow down a bit, Honduran beaches, waterfalls, lakes, and cloud forests provide beautiful settings for spas and retreats.

Guanaja still has a lot of land that is affordable. Unlike its sister island Roatan, Guanaja has not been discovered yet by the masses. This is great for the frugal retiree! Property taxes are ridiculously low, with a home priced at one hundred thousand dollars paying less than one hundred dollars a year. Nothing to complain about there!

Would a housekeeper or yard man make your retired life easier? In Guanaja, this type of help will cost about $150 a month. Even most small pensions can afford that. Did you ever think that you could afford to live like this, especially in your retirement years?

If you require medical attention you have a clinic in Bonacco Town and one in Savannah Bight. Forty miles away in La Ceiba there is a state of the art hospital for major medical problems. The United States and Cuba have trained many of the doctors that practice in Honduras.

Will Social Security be there when we retire? Can we live comfortably on a fixed income with prices soaring? Baby Boomers are reaching retirement and need to know the answers. Guanaja, this tropical gem located in the Caribbean, may be the affordable answer to this question.

Denise Clarke has updated information on Guanaja, and the affordable real estate choices there. Be sure to look at http://www.Guanaja-info.com/ guanaja honduras information, and http://www.Guanaja-info.com/ retire guanaja
