At last a fool proof way to spot eBay scam and spoof emails

Graham Waite

Ever fallen victim of one of those eBay spoof or eBay scam emails? You know the ones they arrive almost daily in your email in box and sometimes you are not quite sure if they are legitimate or not. One click on that link and all your details are heading towards some gready little scammer or credit card cloner.

I am lucky really I have all sorts of aids to prevent me sending emails or any thing else for that matter with firewalls, warnings and bunch of early warning devices. But wouldn't you like to be absolutely sure you didn't accidently send all your details in to the eagerly waiting hands of eBay scam or con artist.

Lets start with the obvious ways of stopping things going wrong and then we can build from there...

There are a few simple tips everyone can follow to tell if an email has actually come from Ebay or not. Here are a few things to look out for, if you know any more then feel free to let us all in on the story at my blog http://www.auctionwealthsecrets.com/auctionnews/

1. Who sent the email: If you are about to open an email in your email system (email client) take a quick peek at the ?from address? and see if the email has come from eBay.com. If not you should immediately be suspicious and delete the email. Check twice and make sure you haven't mistaken the eBay.com address for a spoof such as 1eBay.com, eBy.net or something similar it's and easy but expensive mistake to make.

2. Take care but put your mouse over the link in the email and this will tell you immediately the message is a eBay spoof or eBay scam email . IMPORTANT under no circumstances click any link in a suspect email.

Now look at the lower left screen just on top of the computer start button. This will indicate where the link you would be sent to if you clicked on the link in the email. If the link is anything other than http://www.ebay.com/whatever/ then it is a scam email. You can either delete it or send it to spoof@ebay.com and they will investigate it's origin and hopefully put a stop to this for you.

A helpful tip is to then block that email address in your email system so they can't send any more.

3. Don't ever be tempted to open an email or click a link without thinking first. Could this message be bogus. Think if the request for more information applies to a listing you have or is just another attempt to get you to give away your valuable information.

A popular spoof technique is to send you a winning bidder email message.. If you haven't even placed a bid of the item in question and in fact even if you have just hang on couple of minutes and I am about to reveal a technique which will stop you making a foolish error for good... You are still waiting I hope?

Are you ready a top way of making sure you remain safe from eBay scammers and NEVER open a scam email message, this is so straight forward you'll be kicking yourself when you hear it.

Every legitimate email sent by eBay or through eBay's system will be sent to your MY eBAY account and if it is not there it didn't come through eBay. See told you it was simple. So the answer is to delete all emails from eBay or any spoof address and use the eBay mailing system in my eBay and you'll then sleep well at nights knowing that you've foiled the eBay scammers in their tracks.
