Motivation in Partnerships

Theo McLanahan

Having an assistant can be very beneficial for you and your business. It can free up more time for you to work on projects and your day-to-day business will still be looked after. An efficient assistant can also contribute feedback and help you create new ideas for managing you business.

When you find that right assistant, it's important to keep them motivated and enthused. If they feel that they aren't being utilized to their full capacity, they may seek employment elsewhere. Here are a few tips to help keep that perfect assistant.

Your assistant will definitely be able to do a better job if you keep open the lines of communication. Explain exactly what need to be done to complete a job. Keep an eye on longer projects, making sure that things are being done correctly. This may avoid any resentment if your project ends up not being quite what you expected.

Instructing your assistant can be of help to both of you. Aiding your assistant by setting goals can help them both professionally and personally. They will have more confidence and be more willing to take on challenges.

Keeping your assistant stimulated and helping them learn new skills will keep your assistant motivated and productive. You can offer to teach them a new skill, such as blog customization or help them learn a new software program. As your assistant learns new skills they can help you with more of your business tasks. This can help you grow your business to new heights.

giving your assistant some feedback on the great work that they've done and offering some praise, it may help boost their confidence instead of assuming they've done a poor job. Thinking they've failed, they may not try as hard and suffer from the confidence needed to try harder the next time.

The most important thing is to tell an assistant "Thank You" so they will feel appreciated. It is hard work being an assistant and a little praise can go a long way to keep up the motivation and productivity.

If you ever feel that your assistant isn't working as hard as they could be, don't hesitate to ask them if there is anything you could do to help. You and your assistant can work together to form a great working relationship.
