The La Brea Tar Pits lies in the very heart of the great Western coastal city of Los Angeles, already a popular tourist location due to the many celebrities that live and work in the area. The Tar Pits has, to this day, revealed more about the prehistoric past of the world than any other spot on earth. This is entirely due to the excessive amount of fossilized ancient remains that have been found there throughout the years. From full dinosaur skeletal systems to ancient plant life, thousands of fossils have been found. The Tar Pits date back to forty thousand years ago. The Exhibits

Your family will be thrilled by a multitude of exotic exhibitions, including those that depict life as it was in the Los Angeles Basin so many millenniums ago. One of the more popular exhibits is where you actually get to watch archaeologists as they clean and repair the fossilized remains that have been recently unearthed.

This is actually a part of the museum where you can watch as archaeologists and paleontologists actually work a newly found site, digging up a variety of ancient fossils and remains. This particular area is dense in the skeletal remains of saber tooth tigers and dire wolves from twenty eight thousand years ago. The Pit 91 experience actually gives the onlookers a feel of being part of the digging experience.
