Wood and stone flooring can be extremely beautiful and durable, however these natural floors are by no means cheap. Armstrong Laminate Floors can imitate the look of these natural materials without the substantial cost, not only this but they are also very durable. Laminate flooring can be suitable for any room which you want to upgrade. There is a wide variety of colors and designs of Armstrong laminate floors which makes it easy to fit into any room.

Laminate floors are made up of four layers which are stuck together with a durable layer of plastic. The layer of plastic seals the panels and protects them from damage. These floors are rated with an abrasive rating which tells you how well the floor will wear. When using laminate flooring in residential locations a classification rating of around three is suitable.

Just below the protective layer is a photographic image of the flooring material that it is trying to imitate. This is normally either stone or wood, but can be virtually any material. This makes the flooring very realistic. The bulk of the floor panels are made from fiberboard which is impregnated with melamine. This gives the floor its strength. The bottom layer is a mix of paper pulp with resin which prevents moisture causing a problem.

Versatile Options

Armstrong flooring is a floating floor which is installed in interlocking floor panels. This makes it possible to install it over the top of virtually any other floor. It is important to note that this floor cannot be laid over the top of high pile carpet, and the existing floors must be in very good condition. If you do lay this over the top of existing floors then make sure you are prepared to adjust doors that open into the space.

These laminate floors are floating floors which means they do not need fixing to the sub floor. If you are fitting these rooms in a bathroom or any other room where the floor will be exposed to moisture then you should glue along the joints, and also consider sealing around the edges of the flooring.

Laminate floors have been designed to be able to be fitted into virtually any room in the house. If you are installing it in locations that are likely to get wet you must take special precautions.

Armstrong Laminate floors make your home more beautiful and they are also very durable. However laminate floors are not as durable as the real thing. If the floor becomes damaged, it is not possible to refinish the panels. It may be possible to replace a single floor panel, however this would be very tricky.
