Considerations Of Auto Upgrades When Dealing With Auto Loans

Considerations Of Auto Upgrades When Dealing With Auto Loans

Chris Channing

When one goes to obtain an auto loan, the first thought is likely "I need the most money possible for an auto with the most features possible." While it's nice to live in the lap of luxury, it isn't always convenient. Consumers will find that extra options in automobiles can easily raise the price and interest rate of an auto loan through the roof.

Autos are now coming with extra features and benefits that drive their price up astronomically. Integrated GPS devices, for instance, are becoming very popular for autos. But for most, a GPS device is only good for annual vacations or if they have a profession of a traveling salesman. Either way, it's much more plausible to simply buy one from a store and use than to have it inflate the cost of your auto- and thus inflate the cost of your auto loan.

Keyless entry is another new fangled feature that is keeping auto loan rates inflated for consumers. Keyless entry devices allow consumers to enter cars with the press of a button. But unbeknown to most consumers is the fact that these devices can be easily installed by a mechanic, and without the inflated interest rates that result on an auto loan.

A more luxurious feature of expensive cars is the heated or cooled seating options. These options are nice for those living in extreme heat or cold weathers, but they aren't exactly necessary. A simple air conditioner or heating device that comes with the auto itself is more than sufficient, and doesn't drive up the prices of autos and auto loans.

Another popular option in luxury is the advent of the tire that can withstand flats. It's nice to have an option to continue driving to a mechanic when one gets a flat. But with the price tag associated with it, it is better for consumers to stick to normal tires. These expensive counterparts can easily drive up the price of insurance rates, and thus, auto loan rates.

It is interesting to look at what was considered a luxury in the past. In most cases, what was a luxury is now commonplace. Cruise control or power windows are two examples of such items that are now fairly common on today's society. These options still inflate auto loan prices, but only minimally if much at all. It is usually not necessary to make an effort to do without such conveniences.

It's nice to ride in luxury, but many times it is just not worth it to pick a car that comes standard with such luxuries. It's often thriftier to instead stick to alternatives or installing the luxuries with the help of a mechanic. This saves money on insurance and auto loan interest rates- not to mention the car itself is cheaper.

Consumers who are in need of an auto loan in the first place probably could do without the luxurious features. Either way, it's nice to drive in style. The decision comes down to what you can personally afford, what your insurance rates will be, and how affected your auto loans may or may not be affected.
