Everywhere you go in America you see debris along the road. Some communities are quick to pick it up, while others let it decay. When you look at the trash along America’s roads you see more and more 20 Ounce bottles, which really ought to be recycled. The problem seems to be getting worse.
Recycled 20 oz bottles are sold in C-stores. There are over 12.3 billion per year now as opposed to 130 million in 1990. It is a real problem and it is filling up dumps because typically these smaller containers. You know in many states there are roadside trash cans, why not put out more and color code them so drivers can dump them into the containers paid for by the churches to raise money for recycling or let the homeless pick up the trash cans after 8 pm at night to take to recycling?
How about putting them just after ATM places and drive up windows at fast food or drive up windows, the cans can be bought by the stores and they can put advertising on the save Recycling Makes Sense sign. At night the homeless will magically dig in and collect the prizes. Presently the homeless recyclers collect about $14,500 per year in payments from the recycle centers. This maybe below poverty but this is a great way to keep them from starving.
Something must be done. If we cannot control ourselves and continually feel the need to discharge trash out the windows of moving cars, well then maybe we ought to make it easier to recycle for those who cannot seem to control themselves very well in our great nation? Think about it.
