When it comes to using the Dell3010cn printer, the people at Dell have made it more attractive than ever. Combining sharp color printing with the ability to network with small workgroups, for about the same price as a similar monochrome printer, the 3010cn may be just what's needed in the small office printer biz.
Dell 3010cn toner cartridges are also standard with this unit.
Vital Statistics. Though it weighs about fifty-five pounds, the 3010cn is still within recognized standards for printers in this market segment. Plus it offers color print features normally found in printers costing a bit more than this particular device. Its size (somewhat larger than a square foot), is also the proper for many a small office or home business.
Printing Capabilities. The Dell prints black-and-white pages at about 25 per minute. If you choose to print in color, you can expect about 5 pages per minute of speed. Clarity is fine, at about 600x600dpi. What's outstanding is the amount of pages it can put out before needing maintenance (over 45,000 per month). It can also hold 250 sheets of paper, and that can be expanded to 900 sheets with the addition of a couple of other paper trays.
Operating Compatibility. The
Dell 3010cn marries up well with most any Windows operating system, and also Novell or NT4.0 platforms. USB 2.0 and Ethernet ports sit at the backside of the unit for ease of access.
Memory: Dell equips the 3010cn with a standard 64 megabytes of memory which is expandable all the way up to 576 megs. For most home-based purposes, the standard memory allotment will be more than sufficient.
Service and Support. For businesses, Dell's standard "next business day" on-site service is provided for one year, along with 24/7 tech support. You can also add four more years of coverage for a nominal fee. Home customers are given the "at home" version of the business service plan, which is also extendable by 4 more years for the same nominal charge.
What Toner to Use. The printer uses standard Dell3010cn laser toner cartridges. The installed ones will kick out approximately 2,000 pages before needing replacement. There are higher-capacity optional cartridges on the market for an additional cost. If you use the printer wisely and casually, it could be a few years before you need to replace toner. Because of all that, costs per page of printing could be lower than expected, especially in comparison to other printers in this segment.
