Recycle Mining, Old Cars

Is it possible to pick up all the old junky cars in backyards across America and recycle them? Car we use these materials to make new cars? Many believe this is possible. Argonne Labs in Illinois has discovered was to use the foam behind dashboards and recycle it. Other studies are finding ways to re-use nearly every part of the car. Can it be possible to clean up America and remove all the rust buckets that are decaying, cars that will never be used for anything again; never to be restored?

Met an interesting man the other day in a coffee shop. He was in the building materials business and traveled quite a bit and needed a Frappachino; hot day. He was telling me his son is in college in Washington State and he could not believe all the farmers and people who had old cars rusting away. His idea is that someone who was industrious ought to get a huge flat bed truck offer the land owner to pick up this old debris by the pound, as they pick it up weigh it and then cut the guy a check and everyone is happy.

One has to applaud such rational thinking and simplicity; a good business for someone as well. Now since being familiar with the area in Washington he was describing; why not use some of those old logging trucks which have the loader right behind the cab of the truck and then get a large tractor trailer dump truck bed and just do it? After all the trucks are not being used and for sale everywhere because logging from Aberdene going west towards Montana and South to California or North to Port Angeles is really not what it use to be. Many in the timber business are out of work and have equipment sitting idle, big logging trucks; why not recycle some of this old junk.

The guy I met had to go and I never got his name, but his idea is duly registered here in this article, who ever he is?

In this country we have Salt Mines, Uranium Mines, Zinc, Lead, Molybdenum, Iron Ore, Copper, Silver, Gold, Aluminum, etc. We are making it tough on mines to operate in this country and we are losing our industrial capacity to other nations, which further offsets our trade deficits. We should be increasing our mining efforts and exporting raw materials not importing them. We also ought to mine some of our civilizations waste while we are at it. Some of what we ought to be mining is old computers, refuse and disposed of automobiles. Gosh you drive through the South and every Jerry Springer future guest star has five cars sitting out front with the high grass camouflaging them. Europeans have an interesting idea;

How about all those tires? We should be mining those too. We should be finding ways to mine better and when we can figure out ways to re-use and mine old vehicles, which is the best for all concerned. We must keep our mines running, it employs lots of people and provides local raw materials, thus saving the expense of overseas shipping and if we are careful to mitigate the issues of environment along with the need for efficiencies, we should be able to slow the flow of the growing deficit.

Think about all the raw materials our nation’s geography has, it is abundant indeed. Our waste also contains valuable plastics, rubber, scrap; all of which contain materials we can use to propel our civilization more efficiently. Won’t you join me in spreading the word?
