Like many homes, we have several different computers scattered throughout the house. My children even have their own laptops and although we try to keep them around us whenever they are on the Internet, they are pretty much free to roam around the house as we have wireless Internet. I also have my own computer which I use to do some work whenever I am at home and I rarely ever allow anybody else to use the computer.
My children were sitting with me in the TV room one night, and that is where my PC is. They were not interested in getting up and looking for their laptops in order to bring them and use them so they asked if that would be okay if they surf the Internet on my computer for a little while. I didn't really see the harm in it and although I don't typically allow it to happen, I gave them access. The unfortunate thing is, something was about to go wrong.
My children begin to download songs and a few screensavers in order to run them on their own laptops. They were sending them across the wireless network from my work PC and although this should not have been a problem, one of the programs that they downloaded had a spyware program that was attached. Whenever they want to send it through the network, the spyware launched and infected my computer. I was surprised with how quickly things went wrong from there.
The first thing was that my children started to complain about all the pop-up windows that my computer had and since I did not have a problem with pop up windows, I became a little bit suspicious. By the time I reached my computer, I could not even see the screen underneath because of all of the pop-up windows that were occurring. I immediately started looking for a solution because I could not go without my computer due to the fact that I needed it for work.
The first thing I did was to grab one of their laptops and to start surfing the Internet in order to look for a solution. As it turns out, I had a notoriously bad spyware program on my computer that had allowed dozens of other programs to come in as well. The program that I finally decided to use was known as spyware Nuker and the reason that I used it was because so many people were saying that it wasn't able to do a good job for them.
The program was able to take care of my problems very quickly, which is certainly something that was very welcome to me. It scanned my computer and then offered solutions as to what can be done about it. After cleaning my computer, all of the pop-up windows were totally gone and I've not had a problem with them since.
I always make sure that this program is running in the background, simply because it helps me to be able to keep any spyware problems that may come up against far away from my computer. I'm happy to announce that for the past year, my computer has not had a problem with spyware at all.
