There are many times people go full throttle ahead with living room decorating ideas, and suddenly they realize that something is missing.

You should definitely use some rich and warm fabrics in the living room, unless of course you are going with a design that is modern and sleek for the room.

While you don't have to add fabric to the walls to get the soft and warm look you want in the living room, you will need to get creative. Get beyond just the drape fabric choices out there when trying to decorate the living room. Even if you are going with contemporary living room decorating ideas, you can use fabrics without taking away from the decor.

You can add fabric to almost any aspect of your room. Of course, you don't want to go overboard and slap fabric all over your armoire and coffee table. But, you can't completely ignore fabrics either or else your living room will feel sterile and cold.

You need to think again if there are no fabrics included in the living room decorating ideas that you already have. While the soft will use cloth as well as the drapes, you can add fabrics in many small ways to the room without making it seem like you are in a padded room. More than likely you have some good living room ideas of how to use fabric in the living room, but you may need a boost of confidence so you know you are going the right way with it.

Touches of fabric make great living room decorating ideas, such as adding afghans, throw blankets, and nice pillows. If your couch looks a bit on the bare side, you can quickly fix this. Come up with colors that you want to enhance in the room, such as colors that are found in pictures or in small decorations that you can bring out.

Simply find throw pillows that contain those colors in greater abundance. And to further increase the level of warmth and softness, look for throw pillows in different textures and shapes. For example, some pillows could be velvety, while others could be made of tougher stuff, but they will all go together nicely. In fact, the variety of textures will do wonders for your room.

As I also mentioned, your living room decorating ideas for fabric can include afghans or throw blankets. Get a few of these. You've probably seen throw blankets in pictures--gently draped across the back or arm of a sofa or chair.

There are various textures, styles, and colors to choose from when you decide to go with afghans and blankets in the living room. They add a splash of color as well. While there may be a couple styles that really don't work with afghans, most styles will look good with a couple of them added into the decor, although you definitely don't want to overdo it.

Before I leave this topic, I'd like to share a final thought about including drapes in your living room decorating ideas. They can be extremely useful in adding dimension to your living room ideas. That's if you are willing to put a little more thought into the ones you choose.

Too many people just go with something plain in boring colors for their living room. However, if you take the time to do your research and get beyond the traditional and boring colors, you may find some special options that will look great. This way you can sit back and enjoy the way the room looks.

Take time to consider all the different textures and fabrics out there, as well as various drapery designs. This way you can find special items to add to your living room ideas that will bring in both warm and softness.
