Printing service is used by most companies for different reasons such as marketing and corporate communications. Therefore, it is helpful to learn about the basic working of the commonly used printing process called offset printing.
Offset printing can produce a large number of prints quickly, which makes it more economical than other technologies and also more well-known. Hence for bulk orders any good printing company would advise you to go for offset printing.
The ink used during offset printing has oil as the medium and is insoluble in water. Its so called because in this method, images are not transported directly from the plates to the paper but this is done using rubber blankets as a medium.
The process begins by developing the designs. Film negatives were employed in the past for making images and then copying them to aluminum based printing plates. In the present times, the printers can make use of the image setting system for making the plates directly. The next step is to attach the plate on to a cylinder in the right manner. Thereafter water, and then ink, is spread on the image plates. The image gets the ink while the rest of the area receives a thin film of water, which ensures that the ink does not spill past the images.
Next, the image is turned around when it is transmitted to a rubber blanket which is stuck to another cylinder. The image is then printed with its right side looking up by cutting sheets of papers into appropriate size and putting them on a third cylinder.
The job of printing is finished by the printing company by consolidating the printed sheets using staples or paste or in any other way as per the requirements of the client.
