Bed bugs in homes are a big problem for the inhabitants. These irritating pests survive on warm blood, and if human victims are not available then they attack household pets like dogs. Furthermore, eradicating them is not easy at all and it needs a serious pest control effort to remove them.
Travellers are mostly accountable for transportation of bed bugs, and once these bugs find a new habitat they multiply on their own rapidly. Crevices in room furniture and carpets are the common places for bed bugs to take shelter and flourish.
A common notion about bed bugs is that they grow in places with low standards of cleanliness and hygiene, but this is a misconception. Bed bugs are pests that are thirsty for blood and not waste, and therefore trash removal is not a very useful way to control them. However, keeping the surroundings clean and dirt free can facilitate easy spotting of these bugs.
That bed bugs are too tiny to be visible without any magnifying device is another mistaken belief. In fact, these pests can be spotted without any difficulty, yet we usually don't see them because they have flat bodies that help them vanish easily in narrow nooks of furniture or folds of fabric.
Bed bugs in homes are best handled by knowledgeable pest controllers, so it is advisable to engage the services of such experts. However, there are some home remedies also to control their nuisance such as washing bed sheets, carpets and other cloths in warm water and then exposing them to the sun. Cracks in the walls must be filled with a sealant, and any piece of furniture that has holes must be got rid of as they can turn into potential habitats for these pests.
