Heart rate monitors are among the most recent health and fitness products to hit the market. This is a device that monitors the heart rate while exercising and by doing so reveals to the user if they are working out at the right intensity. A heart rate monitor is easy to use and since it is attached to your body also convenient.

There are many kinds of heart rate monitors available. All have their won different qualities and characteristics. There are two basic types, however, and they are the watch style and chest band monitor.

The watch style heart rate monitor looks much like a wrist watch. It is small and easy to wear. It is not evasive and comfortable to wear. It uses the pulse rate in your wrist to monitor your heart rate. It is simple to use because you simply put it on just like a wrist watch. Most people find that the wrist watch style is the more comfortable option, but many people express concerns over the accuracy. Wrist watch styles are often said to be less accurate that the chest bank styles.

The chest band style of heart rate monitor works by attaching a band that is placed across the chest. There is usually some kind of read out, and that may come in the form of a wristwatch or clip on style this is where information about your heart rate is displayed. There are many who claim that chest band are uncomfortable or tend to slip during strenuous workouts. However, once again there are many kinds available and these include non-slip versions and ones that are made to be comfortable. The biggest advantage of choosing this type of monitor is that the chest band is the most accurate of all heart rate monitors that can be purchased or found outside of a hospital.

Using a heart rate monitor has become very popular. Fitness experts agree that each person has a specific heart rate level that, if reached, will allow them to maximize their workout. This maximum heart rate level can be found manually, but using a heart rate monitor makes the process much more simple and convenient.

Using a heart rate monitor is simple. Once you find the right style to suit you, simply wear the monitor while exercising. The heart rate monitor will tell you at a glance what your current heart rate is. You can work to your maximum heart rate and learn how hard you have to push yourself. By working out with a heart rate monitor you can easily surpass plateaus and avoid over exerting yourself.

Once you are used to having a heart rate monitor, you will then be able to design and develop your own exercise routine. This is similar to having a personal trainer and you will always know which workouts get your heart to beat faster and which need some more intensity.

Overall, heart rate monitors are great assets when it comes to staying physically fit. They let you know if your workout is being done right or if you can train more intensely to achieve the desired results.
