Fortunately, there are simple methods that you can implement so here are 3 natural home remedies to treat head lice.

1. Scrub your hair with olive oil

Perhaps one of the most commonly used techniques is by lathering your hair with olive oil deep into your scalp until it is thoroughly mixed in. This will essential ensure that the lice and their nits cannot breathe so they will be dead when you get up the next morning. Then proceed to use a shower cap so you can shampoo and rinse your hair after you wake up.

2. Use a metal fine tooth comb

With the assistance of a friend or family member, you will then to have them use a fine tooth comb once your hair is dry to remove all the lice. It's important that you don't rush this process as even one egg can easily hatch and cause an infestation problem again. Just as an extra precaution, you may need to repeat this process a few times for up to two weeks.

3. Thorough wash your bedding and clothes

Upon noticing an infestation of lice in your hair, you will need to place all the clothes and bedding you have used in a separate location. While these pests cannot survive for long without a host, they can easily transmit from your clothes to another individual or a house pet. It's also a good idea that you vacuum your room and your entire house including your furniture, mattress and carpet.

These methods as described above will help to eradicate a head lice problem without having to resort to over the counter medication or prescription drugs. While using remedies such as olive oil may seem crazy at first, you have absolutely nothing to lose as this method has proven to be successful for many when it comes to killing head lice.
