What if you discovered how easy it is to make your Site Build It site profitable, starting today?
Here are 3 simple steps to get you started...
Step 1 - Follow the Action Guide by creating your basic site structure
Step 2 - Research Buying keywords for products and services in your niche, and write focused product reviews
Step 3 - Use paid traffic to test whether the keywords convert into sales, before you take the time to do too much Search Engine Optimization
Here are the details you'll need to test your site concept quickly, rather than just building content and waiting to see what happens...
Step 1 - Decide on the theme of your website as discussed in the Site Build It Action Guide, making sure you choose a topic that interests you and quite a few other people (if it's a passion for you, even better). Look for a sub-niche of the broader market that you can dominate over time. Then write your home page and at least 7 or 8 tier two pages covering your major sub topics or themes, so your site looks complete when your visitors arrive. It's important to include a Privacy Policy and a Website Terms Of Use page, plus a Contact page to make it easy for people to get in touch if they want to ask you a question.
Step 2 - Use the Site Build it Brainstormer or the Google Keyword tool to research 'buying' keywords for products related to your niche market. In particular, make sure you look for 'review' keywords related to the main products people are selling. People who are ready to buy often look for product reviews to help them make a decision on which one to purchase. Take the time to write impartial, honest reviews of as many products and services as you can find, and add them as tier three pages on your site. Make sure you include a short, keyword focused summary with a strong call to action, a picture of the product and at least two affiliate links to the product's sales page above the fold of your review page. You want to do this because many people will simply read your summary and click through to the merchant's website to order.
Step 3 - Use paid search methods such as Ezine Advertising, Yahoo Search or Google AdWords to drive targeted visitors to your review pages to see if they convert into sales. Spend some time testing the different elements of your page (the headline, your offer, your call to action, etc.) to see if you can increase the conversions you are getting. Once you know that a page converts into sales, you can move on to doing additional Search Engine Optimization to get the page ranked higher in the search engines.
This could include submitting helpful articles about the various types of products you are reviewing to article directories, and linking to your review pages in your resource box. Or commenting intelligently on related blog posts and linking to your reviews. It's also a good idea to spend some time Bookmarking your reviews on Social Media sites.
Once you are sure your product reviews are working and people are buying products through your site, you can outsource a lot of this Social Bookmarking and SEO work to other people very inexpensively, while you focus your time on finding additional products and writing more reviews. I think you'll agree that finding out if you can make money first is better than spending a year of your life building a website that isn't profitable. I know because I've been there, and it's not something I would recommend to anyone. It's always much better to know your site has a good chance of being profitable within the first month or two, so you can move on to something else if it's not.
