Most acne products available today are tailored towards those who have facial acne. Why is this? Because most of us suffer from this variant of acne. Unfortunately, acne can find home in other, equally embarrassing places such as our back and shoulder area. You can imagine what sort of effect this added nuisance has on one's self esteem. Back acne is more than just an aesthetic eyesore. It can also be physically painful. For instance, we often lean against hard surfaces such as chairs. The added pressure that this creates can trigger discomfort in the area surrounding the lesion. It can even help the acne bacteria further penetrate. The benefit of back acne over facial acne is that it is out of plain sight. Our clothes largely cover up these lesions. However, it really is no picnic having to deal with them. Fortunately, you can treat back acne with many of the same creams and cleanser you regularly use on your face. We have outlined a treatment plan for you to follow below.

In a single day, especially a hot one, our backs come into contact with sweat and the bacteria which it transports. Our clothes trap these contaminants, and keep them pressed up against our back. Acne consequently forms. Good hygiene is a must in preventing back acne. Showering a minimum of once a day is a must. A proper body wash is also in order. Dump whichever product you are using now as it could be part of the problem. Regular soap will not do either. Any body wash or soap bar which you purchase should contain benzoyl peroxide. You should apply the wash directly to your skin, without the aid of an applicator. Make sure you rinse it off once finished.

Cleansing in itself is not enough for clear skin. You need to use a topical medication that includes benzoyl peroxide. It comes in multiple concentrations including 10%, however lower concentrations are just as effective as higher ones. To minimize discomfort in the form of irritation, use the 2.5% variant of the cream. Apply this to your back and shoulder area every night, and within a week you will see progress. Continue to fully clear your skin afterwards.

Your favorite detergent, believe it or not, may be feeding your back acne problem. Those that are highly fragranced have been known to cause such problems. Switch to one that doesn't have such an overpowering smell, and do the same for other laundry product you are using.

Exercising is something many of us do on a regular basis. You need to change your clothes and, if possible, take a quick shower after you have concluded sweat-inducing activity. You do not want to let the sweat ruminate on your skin. Also, keep your hands off your bare back if they haven't been washed. That's an easy way to spread bacteria around.
