If you've got bad breath, your friends, and even your near and dear ones, may never tell you. Its one of those things where it just depends on the person. Some people will tell you have a bugger in your nose, or that your fly is down or that you have bad breath, but loads of people wont. Would you say to someone, diplomatically of course, you have bad breath? If the answer is no, maybe people are thinking it about you, but not saying anything either.

Bad breath, halitosis, is just really a case of you housing bacteria on your gums and tongue and these bacteria converting into sulfuric gases.

The bacteria can come from a number of causes, including digestive problems, sinus problems, diabetes. Also if you drink loads of coffee, or smoke or love to eat spicy pungent foods, onion, and garlic, welcome to the club. And for the meal skippers, the reduced saliva may cause people to take a step back when they're speaking with you.

If you have gum disease, or pyorrhea, then it might be the pus from the root of your teeth and gums that causes the problem. Alternatively, constipation or bad digestion might be the cause.

A trip to the doctor can be in order because sometimes bad breath stems from having an ulcer or If you suffer from bad breath, then it's a good idea to check that there are no underlying illnesses that are causing the problem, such as an ulcer or indigestion. For females, hormonal changes and the fertility cycle have an impact.

So what are the remedies? Start off with a thorough tongue cleansing, with a water cleansing or a tongue scrapping, where you brush right to the very back of your tongue.

Brush your teeth with baking soda. Drink chamomile tea or blanching parsley several times a day, or chew regularly on anise seeds, cardamom, fennel or parsley sprigs. And surprise-surprise, pumpkin does this problem a treat, and helps reduce the smell, if you eat regularly. You can make a mouthwash by using an infusion of rosemary, sage, spearmint, rosemary, among other herbs, or by mixing water and apple cider vinegar. Then you can always try sucking on a stick of cinnamon or eating the peel of an organic orange.

Your best bet though is to seek the advice of your dentist without great delay.
