A lot of the movies and television use the green screen technique. A lot of the times, this method is occasionally used for stunts in Hollywood movies and television. Usually, when directors aren't able to go to the shooting location, and when the opportunity arises that this location can be created, this technique of green screen is used more often than not. The usage of animation or graphics on backgrounds needs the help of green screens as well.
The movie industry right now concentrates on the aspect of special effects more than anything else. These movies have become such great hits among the viewers because it brings a more adventurous side to the movie itself. It also brought a very unique natural effect to the movies that have stunts in them therefore making impossible look possible and easy. The green screen has become the most commonly used, prominent and easy approach to special effects. Super hero movies such as Spiderman, Fantastic Four and Dark Knight and many more movies have used this type of method in their executions.
This is the least expensive and the most accessible special effect. The only thing that you will need is a background that is of green color. It can be placed on any surface possible - canvas, sheet or even just with plain painting the wall green. The only thing that should be considered is that the surface has to be even. Other equipment needed are the right lighting, a camera and any software that edits videos.
To achieve a natural effect through this technique, the most important aspect is the lighting. There should be a proper lighting to achieve the desired effect. The green background used for this effect should be evenly lit. Even a small change in lighting will change the shade of green. There should not be any object or dirt placed on the background. There should not be any crumples in the background; this may result in shadows on the background. Make adjustments to the lighting so that there are no shadows in the background. The subject should also be lit properly. Outdoor shooting is the best for the green screen method as there will be a natural and even amount of lighting. Indoor shooting and night shooting may provide a hindrance and consumes time when the lighting adjustments should be done manually.
The colors blue is preferred more than the green in this type of special effect. Back in the day when this special effect technique was used, the color blue was used commonly used. After how many years, green was then replaced by the color blue. In the green color channel, the digital cameras retain the detail so this method is now used more often. The usage of lesser light as much as possible is implemented to bring the focus back to the subject in the green background. This explains why the blue color is used very rarely than the green. The common blue screen was exchanged to the green screen. The movie Superman was one of the first one that used this method and ever since then, everyone have used this.
