Intuition is an ability that has often been misunderstood. This ability to get a feel for a situation or person has been used throughout time to assess the world around us, but what we feel and what we are told are sometimes very different. Who do we trust?
Most of our perceptions are put together by a collection of evidence that is supported by our senses: what we physically see, and can touch. Intuition goes beyond the senses and the facts and delves into a world that is connected more to feel than touch. Through intuition we can get that gut level feeling that lets us know when something is not true, or someone cannot be trusted.
When we talk about intuition we are talking about an ability that is closely associated with our emotions, and it's a primal means of getting across that basic message that says I like this or I don't feel safe with this person or event. Intuition is generated from the belly, through the gut-level feeling.
Look at the word intuition. The word itself says so much, with the first two syllables saying in and to. The root of this word goes back to Latin, meaning intueri, with a very rough translation taking it to be a look inside.
So what role does intuitive insights play in our day-to-day lives? Using our intuitive abilities is much like supporting your vision of a wonderful strawberry with the taste and smell. Intuition is a tool of perception. The best way to build this ability is to acknowledge your use of it.
Some people find that intuition comes naturally for them, and they have been more open to this ability in their lives. Many professional and aspiring psychic readers use intuition as a foundation for their services, or as one of the tools in their spiritual readings.
Intuition is seen as a psychic or spiritual ability, as is clairvoyance. These are two distinctly different abilities, but are often used together. Clairvoyance is clear vision, associated with the brow chakra above the eyes, while intuition is clear feeling tied to the pleasure or pain response.
Intuition comes into play every day of our lives. Some people make a business of it, using intuition as a consulting tool. Most of us use our intuitive senses without even knowing it, not because it does not exist but because what we are taught does not include recognition in our in the box world. We don't always want others to see us clearly, and intuition cuts right to the truth.
