People who believe in and embrace the paranormal are often fascinated by clairvoyants. These are people who see and feel things other people do not-such as flashes of visions or sensations. They are a fascinating phenomena.

Confused? Think of it like this, most of us, only have knowledge or our present circumstances. Clairvoyants, however, have the ability to see events occurring in the future and though the ability is rarer, some clairvoyants have the ability to see into the past. The term is also used to describe individuals who can see present day events that are happening at a distance and can known information about a place or object without being told.

Clairvoyants may be able to experience these happenings while they are awake or in their dreams. People who embrace the paranormal may go to a clairvoyant to ask for advice about important decisions-like getting married or having children. Sometimes clairvoyants have even helped solve crimes using their abilities.

Some individuals are naturally born with this clairvoyant ability; at an early age, they seem to know who will be on the other end of the telephone before it answers or who is ringing at the door bell. Many other people become clairvoyants later on in life when they make the conscious effort to develop their powers.

People who encounter a clairvoyant are usually amazed and don't completely understand. They are often mystified when someone tells them something that will happen or warns them and is able to prevent a tragedy. It can sometimes be a little scary-and in years past many clairvoyants were the target of fear, misunderstanding, jealousy, and hatred. Today-particularly as people are able to see how clairvoyants can help in society-this ability, while not completely understood, is more readily accepted. In fact, normal "everyday" people often try to develop clairvoyant powers if they can.

Naturally, this makes you wonder if you can become a clairvoyant even if you've never had a clairvoyant experience before. Surprisingly, yes! While natural clairvoyants seem to stumble into their gift, most people have some clairvoyant powers they just haven't discovered yet. But there are things you can do to help become more enlightened.

You can start with meditation. To meditate, you consciously clear your mind of specific thoughts and open yourself up to receiving. Your mind can wander about naturally and experience new things. You may see shapes and colors or hear sounds or experience thoughts you never have before. You can simply experience what comes. But stay attuned to it, as well, because you may get a glimpse into something from the future. Likewise, after you meditate, you may experience similar glimpses in your dreams. Since developing clairvoyant gifts is considered a natural process in tune with our surroundings, many clairvoyants enjoy meditating outdoors. This may help you, as well.

Meditation and dream analysis are not the only way of unlocking dormant clairvoyant powers. One of the most ancient tools used by clairvoyants is scrying. With scrying, a mirror or other clear reflective surface such as a crystal ball or even a bowl of water is used to look into the future. Relax your mind and practice alone in a dark room. Use a flashlight or candle to focus on your face and open up your mind as you ask questions. Do not be afraid of alarmed if you see people, places or objects appear, what you see is only your unconscious mind or spirit guide, giving you the answers to the questions you have asked.

Still another way to develop potential paranormal or clairvoyant gifts is to practice palm reading. You can get a book on this technique that will explain the basics, but essentially this involves studying a person's dominant hand and looking at four key lines on the palm. One is the head line, another the heart line, another the life line, and the fourth primary line is the fate line. These lines are said to reveal details about you, your character, and perhaps glimpses into your past or your future.

Tarot reading is another special skill often used by clairvoyants because of its remarkable accuracy. Interpreting the message of the cards can reveal someone's true love, incoming danger or even help with making important career decisions. Purchase a deck of tarot cards and start providing free readings to get an understanding of how the process works and improve your skills.

Before experimenting with any of these techniques, you may wish to cleanse your aura. Using a crystal, you can free your mind from negative energy and open yourself up to what you will experience. Some believe the only reason we cannot see what clairvoyants can see is because we allow ourselves to be blocked with doubt and negativity.
