I think about when we started our Internet marketing business. Our dream was to be able to work from the comfort of home, and also have time together. But we soon became so immersed in getting through the overwhelm and work, that days came and went without notice. Our previous life seemed to fade into the background. After a few months or so we couldn't believe we had robbed ourselves of so much interaction with others.
We have both discovered that this is a common occurance for most work from home people like us. There are too many of us Internet entrepreneurs driven by the desire to be successful in our chosen Internet businesses, that we forget to stop and smell the roses along the way. And many of us believe we are not justified in taking time away from the business at hand, until we have the success we want.
When we are tucked away in the office, it is too easy to forget about the rest of the world. The thinking, that when I just get on top of this or that, complete one more task, I will join the family, then I will take that walk. It is insane .... for people who have chosen to work at home online, not to enjoy the greatest benefit of all, which is Time. Time for the fun things of life.
Why do we insist on doing this? We miss the very reason of why we decided to become Internet marketers in the first place. We dreamed of self employment and being able to work at home, and the freedom that we are pursuing. Good business management requires looking after number one ... You!
There are five vital reasons you should take a break every few hours:
1. Physical down-time is essential. Trying to be super-human sitting on your tail all day is a sure way to burn out. So get away from work ... take the kids and the dog for a walk.
2. You need mental down-time. Get out and play, your mind will thank you. Your days are filled with busy, sometimes even hectic, day-to-day activities related to your business. Getting away from that for a while will ensure peace of mind.
3. Spend some quality time with your loved ones. You are at home now. All your friends and family see you doing is working hard. They would appreciate time together with you.
4. Go see the world. Or even just your own back yard!
5. Do fun things you enjoy. Make your office off-limits. Close the door and place a sign on it. Do whatever it takes to keep your mind off working. Think of what you can do within your resources that is fun. Read a good book or just veg-out! You have an incredible life. It is strange how many home business owners do not feel they deserve this. There is always too much to do and not enough hours in the day to do it. Guess what, it is always going to feel that way! Only you have the power to give yourself time off. Just take a day here and a day there away from your Internet business, that is a whole lot better than never taking time out. You will feel better about yourself and your work with regular relaxion time. You will be healthier, too!
