Many couples wonder how to get pregnant. For most couples, getting pregnant is very easy. For others, it takes a little bit of extra thought and planning to conceive. There are some basic steps that men and women can do right now to help increase their chances of getting pregnant.

For the women, you may be on the pill and are ready to stop in order to have a baby. Many have heard it is best to wait a few months before trying to get pregnant. This is actually not the case. You will probably be more fertile in the first three months after stopping the pill than the three months following your last dose.

It does not matter whether you are a man or a woman, you need to stop smoking. You want to detoxify your body before trying to have a baby. Stop drinking alcohol, caffeine, and pre-processed foods. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Whole grains are good to eat as well. Stay away from dairy, sugar, and salt. Drink lots of filtered water.

Both couples should join a gym together. At the very least, you both should go walking together. If you have home exercise equipment that is perfect. Both of you should be exercising at least 20 minutes a day. Think of it like this: once the baby comes you both will not have one on one time together like this so enjoy it while you can.

Scientific research has shown that you can increase your fertility by making changes to your diet. Make sure you are getting lots of vitamin a, b, and c, and beta-carotene in your diet. Scientific research has also shown that birth defects can be reduced by increased intake of folic acid. Magnesium and iron are also important. You can get all these nutrients by eating eggs, beans, nuts, lean red meat, and lots of green vegetables.

Men should wear cotton boxer shorts and avoid overheating in jacuzzis, saunas and hot tubs. As with a woman, the man should avoid stress, alcohol and smoking. Antioxidants are also important for improving fertility chances, so eat foods rich in vitamins c and e, as well as zinc and beta-carotene. Concentrate on eating fruit, oily fish, grains and dark green vegetables.

Getting pregnant may take some time. Make sure you stay healthy, exercise, and eat right.
