What are Cell Phone Faceplates?

Just about all major brand cell phones nowadays have covers for them. These covers, or cases are usually referred to as snap on protectors, protectors, and faceplates. These products for your mobile phone's protection and favorite style come in many styles, colors, textures, and designs. Your choice of phone faceplates are usually available with different sports team logos, celebrities, television shows, cartoon characters, bands, or almost anything else you can think of. Most online, or offline stores that sell faceplates usually have a large assortment of protectors for each and every type of personal taste, and style.

What Function Do Faceplates Provide?

Mobile phones are prone to damage and may not work right if they are dropped on a hard surface and therefore need additional protection. Most cellular phone owners have dropped their phone at least once or twice, and some even dozens of times. However, mobile phones like a Blackberry, or iPhone are not very cheap, and if there is no insurance on the it, there is a risk of having to pay for a new phone, and being out hundreds of dollars from the mistake. Not to mention valuable contact information being lost if not backed up.

Cell phone faceplates protect the phone so you do not have to worry about smashing it to bits when it is dropped. Also, cell phone faceplates offer one more layer of protection against the mechanical guts of your cell phone and a source of water.

In addition, not only do faceplates assist in protecting the mobile phone from getting chipped, cracked, or damaged, they also provide a sense of style. In other words, faceplates can be seen as an extension of the owner's own personal style, because a colorful faceplate can be used to match styles of dress.

Who Sells Cell Phone Faceplates?

Most of the top brands like Motorola, iPhone, Blackberry, LG, Nokia, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson, Kyocera, and Sanyo have some sort of faceplate made for them and if any other models, or new brand of cell phones are introduced to the market place, manufacturers will be on top of designing a series of cell phone faceplates for those specific models that are most popular, and selling fast.

Cellular phone faceplates are made available at a variety of different locations such as Mobile Phone Kiosks in malls and other high traffic areas, convenient stores, shops, retails stores, cell phone carriers, etc. Plus can you find hundreds of different designs of cellular phone faceplates online. Although they are available just about everywhere, cell phone faceplates are not all the same. Make sure that the one you want to buy is durable, and tough enough to protect your phone when dropped, or bumped against a hard, or sharp object.

If you buy one for a few bucks, chances are it will fall apart in a short period of time. It is important to remember that you get what you pay for in many cases, and mobile phone faceplates are no exception to the rule. Also along with the strength and ruggedness, make sure the faceplates you are looking at are compatible with your particular phone. For example, if you have a large phone with many functions like a Blackberry, then you'll want to make sure the protector matches the face of your phone so that you can operate it properly, i.e. the buttons and/or screen are not covered so you cannot access them without hindrance.

How much do Cell Phone Faceplates Cost?

Depending on the brand, cell phone faceplates can cost anywhere from $5-$40. Cell phones like the Blackberry, myTouch, and iTouch might run a little bit more. But, for the most part cell phone faceplates are very reasonable in price. In addition to the model and brand, materials also play a part in how much you will pay for the protector. Leather protectors are always more and some manufacturers have made exclusive gem-studded cell phone faceplates for wealthy individuals to enjoy.
