Traditionally, interior decorating has been the job of the interior decorator.

Many homeowners are becoming quite skilled at decorating their own homes. This is in large part due to the increase in homeowners wanting to take charge of the design of their home.

We have always thought that home decorating is so expensive because we have always hired others to do it. In fact, paying an interior decorator is really paying for someone's time. In these days, time it is expensive. With little knowledge, you can decorate your own home and spend much less money doing it.

Any interior decorator will tell you that the key to designing a beautiful room is to keep things as simple as possible. Those who do not understand design believe that you have to fill a room full of junk in order for it to look good this is not true.

There is an old interior decorating saying, that is regardless of how beautiful it is if it's not functional but it's not beautiful.

Below you'll find a list of helpful tip to help you to defy your home. You do not need to be an expert to be a good interior decorator.

Strategy one, get rid of all the clutter. The beauty is having as much open space as there is decorative elements. Take a walk through your home. Identify all furniture items and decorative items that you can either throw away, but in the attic, or sell at a yard sale.

Strategy two, be sure to keep seasonal items stored away. Nothing is more tacky than Christmas decorations in July. Having a special place to put these items will make it easier to follow through with season to season cleanup.

Strategy three, if the space in your home is limited, and the exercise of clearing out clutter did not open up your room's enough, then perhaps you need smaller furniture. The big pouch might look nice in the big furniture store, but it will look horrible in your small living room.

Strategy four, get rid of all the tacky knickknacks. You know what I'm talking about. In modern interior decorating less is more. Having a table in your living room cluttered with little dolls is not beautiful.

Strategy five, when was the last time you changed your carpets? Partly it's really should not be that for more than 10 years. This is both for aesthetic reasons and how the ones. If your carpet is over 10 years old replace it. If you don't have carpet in your home, consider putting one in the room you spend the most time in.

Strategy six, the kitchen is where the interior decorating principle of simplicity is most important. Take a look at what is inside your kitchen. If it doesn't directly contribute to the preparation of food, then get rid of it. For example, a big chair, and even the dining table, should be in another room. Also, make sure your kitchen is very well lit. Install additional high energy efficient light bulbs if necessary.

Strategy seven, space and simplicity are also important in the bathroom. Much like the kitchen, you will want to get rid of all unnecessary clutter in the bathroom you should have plenty of room to move around and it should be easy to clean. Every time you flush the toilet tiny mists of water workshop and into the air in the bathroom. They then settle in whatever furniture or clutter you have in the bathroom, and then the Germans begin to breed.

These tips should get you on your way to turning your average looking home into a beautiful one. By just implementing these strategies, you can impress any seasoned interior decorator.
