Like many people, I sometimes fear for the direction that our popular media is going. This is probably most attributed to the fact that I am a Christian, and I feel like I just can't find anything that is morally upright these days. Most of the stuff out there is getting more and more trashy.
Specifically, I am referring to media like children's books, music and movies. But I'm sure I could name many other parts of the problem as well. I don't want to have to insulate myself from everything out there in the world, but I also recognize that I need things that can bring me back to a Christ centered life.
Going to church is the most important thing. Few activities are as good as attending church on Sundays to re-center myself and bring back my spirituality. I am very glad that I have access to Christian resources to help me. Church is great for getting together with my friends while we worship and discuss things that are good.
One of the other things that are a huge help to me are all the Christian stores that supply me with good media. Whether you realize it or not, there are a lot of Christian stores in the U.S. But if you can't find a brick and mortar store, you can always shop on the Internet for anything you need.
One thing that I like about these stores is that they have things for my kids that I can feel good about. I don't know if I want my children reading some of the popular books out there that won't bring them closer to Christ. Why would I buy books about wizards when I could buy books about Bible stories and things that actually inspire?
Don't we all love us some inspiring artwork? I love that most Christian stores have a large selection of Christ-centered artwork. I know that my home would not be complete without quality and uplifting artwork, and I'm sure most of you could say the same. Artwork is a way that we can make our homes a little piece of heaven on earth.
Last but certainly not least is all the quality church resources that Christian stores specialize in. Surely you've seen the church bulletins, certificates, or stationary that your church provided, but maybe you didn't know that they got it at the Christian store. Even though we don't think much of these products, they are very important.
My main message is that there is a lot of degrading media out there, but there is still a way we can provide good things to our families. That way is by paying a visit to your Christian store and betting what you need.
