It's an ongoing battle, but I'm always trying my hardest to be as productive as I possibly can. So many of us make the mistake of putting things off, which in turn ends up forcing us to work longer hours.

As a result, it's critical that I'm entirely focused through the course of a work day. With so many distractions running rampant, it's really easy to get thrown off track.

It took me a while to figure out the winning formula, but I'm at a point where my workdays are so much more productive than they've ever been. I'll give you a few pointers that may be of use to you.

First of all, make sure that you get an ample amount of sleep. I know that it may be somewhat out of your control, but getting the right amount of rest at night can be the sole difference between a productive day and a waste of a day for me.

How much of it you need will really depend on your body. You should probably know the answer by now. Do everything you can to make sure you're getting that amount.

My next suggestion is to exercise regularly. If you can do it every day that you work, I'd go as far as suggesting this. First of all, it definitely helps to keep the mind balanced and at ease.

On a physical level, your energy levels will naturally be higher, making it all a lot easier to do large quantities of work in one sitting. This is crucial, as so many people seem to slow down after a few hours.

Listening to music is just as important as getting exercise. Having the right background music can easily minimize all other distractions, leaving you with an intense focus on your tasks at hand. I do this every day, and don't know what I'd do without my music.
