Teenagers have had a rough time finding any sort of work this summer. Finding employers that actually had job openings was hard and then finding jobs suited for teens was even harder. School has started again and the job situation hasn't gotten any better but at least these youngsters have their education to pursue.
Usually, teens starting around the 16-year-old age range are out looking for jobs during the summer and winter vacations. Many employers who can use some extra help that doesn't require much experience would normally be happy to help out and hire them. These are the hourly jobs that teens would usually take and now they are finding that all these hourly jobs with little experience required, have been taken by all kinds of other workers.
Many older workers have lost their jobs and have been faced with accepting a lesser paying job or have no job at all. This has meant that employers who would have normally been happy to hire teenagers during the summer are faced with having the ability to hire more experienced workers instead. In many cases, the more seasoned workers with families to feed have gotten the jobs.
Young teens are very Internet savvy and they know that looking for a job online is one of their best bets. The online job search sites have been inundated with people of all ages looking for work this year and there just aren't enough jobs being posted to keep up with the demand. This dire work situation is taking place in other countries as well as the United States.
Anyone who is young and needs a job must remain patient and keep looking. Now that school has started again, if a young worker can work after school part time there might be more openings as less students are looking for work. It is important to never give up in the job search because sooner or later things will get better.
