Below are some points on how to use forums effectively.
1) Find relevant forums: Finding the forums related to your website or product or service, it is very important. For this simply do a search on Google with your site keywords or products or services along with the term forum.
2) Forum Rules: Before joining you must check whether this forum will allows using signature in your posts. This is done by checking already posted threads. If anyone has a signature beneath his or her posting, then you confirm that that forum is allowing signatures. Then you know that you will be able to get your links on the site - go ahead and sign up. Once you find the forum related to your niche then create your account. For creating account you need to follow member instructions.
3) Set up your signature: After creation of account you will be able edit your user profile. Where you can edit your details, avatar and signature etcIn signature field you can place your site link including back links to your site.
4) Read the forum guidelines: Do not post any thread before reading guidelines and sticky threads. Why because some forums are interested in receiving the welcome threads. This is to introduce you to the forum. Without posting this thread if you post another threads also they will not approved by moderators. So make sure that it is necessary to post welcome thread or not.
5) Make Use of Forum Features: Use the signature lines to help spread the word about your site. You never have to even say a word about your outside interests as you post. Make posts on forums wherever you can add insight to a conversation and your signature lines will do the 'talking' about your site for you.
6) Do not promote your website directly: Most forums strictly prohibit blatant promotion of a Web site, a product, or a service. Promoting your site or product or service directly in the forum is likely to get you banned from the forum. Do not use any links in your threads. Some of forum moderators will not approve your post if they observe any links in your thread.
7) Don't Spam: Whether the forum is a general subject forum or specific to a topic you need to be active and actually posting information that is a part of the conversation. Simply rushing through a forum and posting a blurb about your site or product is going to get your post deleted and your user name banned as a spam poster. Do not post threads after the immediate registration. First give some reply's to already post threads. In some forums for reply also moderator approval is necessary. So don't worry if your reply is not appearing in the forum. It may take some time to approve. For threads also it is applicable.
8) Always stay professional: Be real, be truthful, and be sincere and be honest on which you post. Do not post your day-to-day struggles, marital problems, friendship problems, co-worker problems, family problems or financial problems. Post the threads related to your niche.
9) Don't be afraid to mention your product or service in relevant posts.
10) Don't mention your product or service if there is no reason to do so.
