The stereotypical image of Dubai is one that features incredible buildings, spectacular opulence and some of the best shopping on the planet. All too often our stereotypes of a certain place are wrong, but when it comes to Dubai, the image is right on the mark.

Aside from the architecture Dubai is probably most famous for its shopping. Just about everywhere you turn in the city there is a shopping mall, usually found within another amazing building. If you're going on holiday on Dubai, it's a good idea to make sure that you have some spare capacity in your suitcases.
Dubai's incredible shopping doesn't end with modern retail chains. Dubai has been a trade centre for hundreds of years and ship captains used to moor in Dubai and then strike deals for their wares with local traders. The location for these trades, the 'souks,' remain busy centres of trade today, but beware, haggling is part of the shopping process, so don't be put off by what might seem like high prices.
Despite having a rather austere reputation, Dubai is listed as one of the best places to party in the world. Pubs and clubs are generally only found inside the hotels, but it's possible to have an amazing night without stepping outside at all.
Even though it is surrounded by desert, Dubai has a lot to offer when it comes to wildlife. A desert safari will take you across the dunes and allow you to get up close and personal to some truly rare and exotic wildlife, as well as giving you the opportunity to visit a genuine desert oasis.
