Have A Nice Day

Some place in the world attract you because they are well advertised. Others attract you because they offer something unique that the rest of the world doesn't (the pyramids, barrier reef etc.). Then there are the places that seem to have been floating around your head forever without you even realizing it.

Basically, they are already in your subconscious. You just don't realize it.

Nice in France is a place that perfectly epitomizes this. I have read countless books and seen hundreds of TV shows that have Nice involved in some form or other. I didn't even know it was in France until I checked, it could have been in italy for all I knew. But the thing is, I still knew it was a good place to go on holiday.

Situated right in the middle of the French riviera, Nice has done an excellent job of making the most of this glamorous reputation by making itself an effortlessly cool and desirable place to be. It is hard not to get caught up in the place.

True, the traffic can get ridiculous and when the tourists descend like locusts things can get very very claustrophobic, but if you know where and when to go then you should be fine. There are enough museums and art galleries to keep you busy and there is a delightful old quarter to get lost in.

Modern Nice very much retains its split personality; you can revel in the world of such artistic greats as Matisse, Chagall and Picasso, marvelling at the famed local light that has always made Nice a mecca for artists. Then 10 minutes later you can delve beyond the centre and enter the insalubrious graffiti blighted suburbs that help make this the fifth largest city in France.

However, the centre is as glorious as it ever was. Few cities have the capacity to entertain tourists the way Nice does. Things have got cheap too, which is another piece of good news. Check out the Internet. Sites like Octopus travel have deals on Nice Hotels that would have been unheard of a few years ago.

So, now is the time to finally visit that city that has been niggling away at the back of your mind. You won't be disappointed and the price will leave you pleasantly surprised. Go on
