Choosing how to design and style your salon's interior can be a huge decision, as you have to balance what you and your stylists require, with the brand the salon has, as well as what the clients will want. Trying to consider all this, while working within health and safety guidelines and current trends is a huge task.
So to make the task a little less daunting, we've put together our favourite tips on how to choose your salons decor and make the most of what space you have, whether a few feet or a 3 floored salon.
The first thing you should probably choose is the type of look you want to achieve; do you want a natural oasis or a metropolitan environment, are you looking for light gentle colours or to have a dramatic impact. Once you have a few options, think about how these will fit in with your brand image, the building you're in and what your clients already expect.
Once a mood or theme has been set upon, you then need to consider how to translate that into the space you have available to you. Space is key as you might have a fantastic vision of a minimalist salon with lots of open space, but that just isn't going to work in a small salon.
Also crucial to a successful design is lighting, as different lighting levels and tones can create very different moods. So when looking at light fittings consider options that filter differently, play with wattages and look at how different fittings change the light, until you find the perfect ambience for your space.
Another key factor is the seating used in your salon, as clients will be spending most of their time in your salon sat down, in reception, at the backwash and while being cut, coloured and styled! Their comfort is paramount so think about this as well as style, as many seats and stools which look great might not be that comfy a couple of hours later.
Other than these tips, it's important to have fun with your salon design whatever you choose, as after all you'll be spending more time there than at home, so it has to be somewhere you (and your clients!) love.
