Summer felt like autumn this year and after a handful of warm days behind us it is time to get prepared for winter. One of my first jobs for getting ready for the cold weather is making the home feel warmer and a nicer place to stay in on those cold nights. One of the rooms that you always like to feel cozy is the bedroom as getting up in the mornings for work when it is really dark outside is hard enough without having to step out into a cold room. An easy solution for making your bedroom feel warmer is a nice soft wool rug by the bed so when you step out barefooted you are met with a lovely warm wool rug.
Although a wool rug cannot make the thought of going to work much more appealing but can help you feel a bit better about having to get out of bed. It is much more appealing to step out of your bed onto a nice wool rug than a cold hard floor in the winter and apart from the obvious comfort benefit a wool rug can make your bedroom look much nicer.
Your bedroom is often a room that not that many people will see, unlike the living room or dining area so choosing the decoration for your bedroom is a completely personal choice. Some people like a modern loo to their bedroom, whereas other people go for a more traditional style but whatever you choose it has to be comfortable. Your bedroom is where you sleep so you may not want it to look to busy with lively patterns, you may want to go for relaxing colours that will help you unwind and drift off to sleep.
Choosing the colour for your bedroom is the first step in decorating the room, you don't have to worry about fashions or trends as this is your personal choice. Some people go for neutral colours, or choose their favourite colour, other people go for warm colours that will accentuate the cosiness of the room you may choose a colour that sets off a particular atmosphere or theme. Whatever your choose you can usually find a wool rug that will match or compliment your colour plan as there are so many wool rugs available.
Dark walls often look good with a light colour or a light shade of wool rug on the floor, in contrast to this light walls work well if you go for the same colour but a darker shade rug. Unlike hall rugs or living room rugs, a bedroom rug has very little wear and tear so doesn't need to have the same level of care. Bearing this in mind you may want to go for a cream or white rug as these generally show the dirt therefore are less practical in rooms with a high footfall.
