Minivans are great for families; they are spacious and designed to be practical for every day use. The 2010 Honda Odyssey is a solid example of an efficient minivan. It encompasses all of the qualities that the Japanese car maker is known for; practicality, functionality and efficiency. It's ideal if you have a large family or drive a large number of people around on a frequent basis. A few of the models come with a power tailgate installed which makes unloading items a cinch. Four trims are available for this auto; the LX, EX, EX-L and the Touring version.
What stands out about the Odyssey is its engine, which is very powerful for a minivan. It is a 3.5 Ltr with a total output of 244 hp and 240 lb feet of torque. In fact, the engine is the most powerful in its class. In terms of fuel economy this vehicle gets 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the freeway, which is pretty good considering this car can haul around 8 people. This minivan handles exceptionally well, it drives and feels just like a regular car out on the road.
The interior is top notch and makes use of intelligent design and quality materials. The cabin has designed to be well insulated and stays quiet even at fast speeds. The driver's seat can be adjusted in ten different ways. There is even an optional DVD sys tem available on the EX-L and touring models which will entertain passengers in the second and third row.
The seats can be folded back if you need more room and there are a total of three rows of seating in total. Standard features include an AC system, power windows and a telescopic steering wheel. There is an optional navigation system available can be directed by using voice commands, and it has the ability to provide restaurant reviews and menus as well as the regular turn by turn directions.
Many precautions have been taken to make this vehicle as safe as possible. The ABS braking mechanism functions with the electronic brake distribution system in order to help to control the vehicle when the brakes are hit all of a sudden. The neck is protected via active head restraints which function to prevent whiplash during a collision. Vehicle Stability Assist corrects understeer and oversteer. Another option is a rear view camera which is helpful when you're trying to back out of a space or parallel park in a tight spot. Since tires are a crucial element to safety, a tire pressure monitoring is in place which lets you know when the pressure is a bit off the norm.
The 2010 Odyssey offers a great deal of room and cool features to keep the whole family occupied. Parents will enjoy the excellent fuel efficiency while kids will be entertained by the optional DVD system. MSRP starts at around $24k, a solid price for a minivan manufactured by Honda.
