A very common home design accessory is the wall sconce. They are simple, yet can add lots of refinement to any space of your choosing. They are truly one of my favorite types of home design accessories because I am a simpleton. Strategically positioned wall sconce lighting can altogether replace big floor lamps, free up a lot of space, while yet providing sufficient lighting.
But the Main phrase to pay attention to is "properly positioned." Many people just aren't aware how and where to place them, so they aren't getting the full benefit of their sconces.
So let me give you a few pointers on how to install wall sconce lighting, the proper way.
You will want to place the wall sconces at or above head level. Basically, a sconce that is too low looks weird. Moreover, low hanging sconces make the space appear smaller. As a general rule of thumb, you should put your sconces about 6 feet above the floor.
Sconces should be used to bring out focal points in the room. They themselves are not to be the main focal points of the room. For instance, if you have a great looking time piece, couch, archway, or whatever have you, and you want people to notice it more often, place a sconce or two in a sensible arrangement next to it.
For hallways and walkways, I recommend you put a sconce one quarter away from the start, as well as one quarter away from the end. If you have a rather long corridor, consider positioning one right in the center. If you have a zig zagging corridor, put a sconce on each pivot point.
