There is no doubt about it; jeans are a bit part of fashion today. They make women feel sexy and trendy with all the different styles and cuts out there. However, when you fall pregnant you may hesitate trying to squeeze into a pair. Visions of how uncomfortable it is to wear jeans when you are bloated are enough to turn you off. But maternity jeans today are not only comfortable enough to wear the whole nine months, but also fashionable enough to stay trendy and stylish.
Jeans can be a big part of the wardrobe for a mother-to-be, even in the styles they wore pre-pregnancy. Many designers have been paying attention and are turning regular fit jeans into maternity jeans. They can now be found in bleached, dark, light, stonewashed or even colored denim. Additionally they also come in all the popular cuts like bootleg, skinny, wide leg, regular fit, stretch, and even capris.
The maternity jean today is made to grow with you, so you will be able to stick with your pre-pregnancy size when choosing the style. The majority are made with elastic in the denim, so they have a little bit of give even if you gain some weight on the legs and thighs. Towards the end of the pregnancy it is normal to go up a size, but do not go up a size until you absolutely need to for the best fit.
The belly part of the jeans is very important and come in a variety of choices. Each woman is different and choosing the style of bellyband depends upon a woman's own personal preference. The bellyband is a jersey material that stretches to expand with the belly. This can be wide to cover the whole belly or small to fit just under the belly. They may also be attached the whole way around the waistband or just in the front.
Some jeans also have an adjustable waistband, which many women find a lifesaver. These are fully adjustable on the inside of the jean, so it is not visible. They adjust with a band of elastic sewn into the waist of the jeans to keep it hidden, and the elastic is adjusted by buttoning it as loose or as tight as you need it on each side of the waist.
Being fashionable and comfortable in a pair of maternity jeans is possible today. Jeans are evolving to fit the lifestyles of pregnant women today and to fit their own personal style. Because there are so many options today with jeans for moms-to-be, there is no longer any reason to go around in sweatpants except to lie around the house.
