Often it's quite clear why individuals choose to drive certain cars. We are not going to examine the driver of a police car or a truck owned by a plumbing company or landscaping firm. It is plainly obvious that the person driving that particular vehicle is driving it because of their occupation. Their vehicles symbolizes what they do for a living.
May people care immensely about the type of vehicle they drive. It is a symbol of all they are. It is an expression of who they are. It makes a statement about their way of life. It might say something about their wealth and prestige. It can even give you a glimpse of what is important to them as in the example of a driver of a hybrid vehicle. This type of person is probably eco-conscious and cares about how much they are paying per gallon of gas.
Parents may pick a SUV because of the seating capacity and overall roominess. It also has plenty of storage room. They may like the added comfort of a DVD player and lots of cup holders.
Other buyers may choose brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar or Mercedes Benz. The choice of these vehicles is certainly based on a reputation of quality and luxury but is also influenced by a desire to express status. The desire to show wealth and social status may play a role in the decision.
In terms of brand loyalty, consumers don't get any more loyal than truck buyers. These purchasers may use their trucks for work and may base their purchase on the same criteria with which they pick the other tools they use. They may have a parent that only drove a particular brand so now they also choose drive that brand.
Some shoppers may opt for pre-owned cars. This is actually quite a smart decision because brand new vehicles depreciate in value quite rapidly.
It can be rather stressful to purchase a new auto. Making the decision to take on debt, dealing with and negotiation with salespeople, even deciding what color, all weigh on the purchaser. Personally, I am of the opinion that the car you drive does say a lot about you. I choose to drive a luxury car because it makes me feel good about myself and I enjoy driving a brand with history and legacy. I actually consider my car a fashion accessory, along the lines of a premium designer handbag. My vehicle very classy and matches every outfit I wear since it is black. I know that no matter where I go, I will always arrive in style.
