There are instances when Eczema rashes are unresponsive to any form of steroid Eczema cream. There are other options that may help address severe Eczema rashes. Oral intake of steroids may help alleviate inflammation. An immunosuppressant like Methotrexate aids in controlling the skin's response to irritants. These forms of medication should be used under the close supervision of a doctor, to reduce the chances of adverse reactions.

PUVA or UVB light therapy is suggested for individuals who have stopped responding to other kinds of treatment. The result of phototherapy is similar to the effect of sunlight on our skin. PUVA therapy is accompanied with an oral medicine known as Psoralen, which is taken a couple of hours prior to UVA light therapy. This method of treatment is efficient on obstinate Eczema rashes. Its side effects include sunburn, but it may also induce premature ageing and skin cancer and when used improperly.

Many sufferers of Eczema attest to the benefits of evening primrose oil on their skin. Its gamolenic acid content may contribute to faster healing of Eczema rashes and blisters. Gamolenic acid is an important substance, which promotes the production of essential fatty acids. However, there have been recent reports about its inefficiency in healing Eczema rashes.

A few advocates of herbal medicines have turned to Chinese herbal cures to treat Eczema rashes. There are actually several reports which prove their benefits in treating Eczema. However, a few have expressed their concern on these herbs' harmful effects on our body organs, particularly the heart and liver. There are also no regulations that govern the manufacture of most herbal Eczema remedies.

Several instances of Eczema are accompanied by viral or bacterial infections, which prevent Eczema rashes from mending the right way. Antibiotic drugs or antibacterial medicines may be given for oral consumption. Skin creases and other areas that are susceptible to perspiration promote fungal growth. A fungicide cream can be applied for such instances. Adding an antiseptic solution to your bath two times a week may help preclude infection.
