Kitty Litter Tray Delays Divorce Proceedings
A new survey has discovered that a fifth of divorces in Wales are delayed due to rows over small items such as CD's, DVD's and even in one case- a cat litter tray. The strange item is one in a long list of unusual and inexpensive items that have been the subject of an ongoing divorce battle.
The survey showed that some of the largest divorce settlements have been subject to delays while couples argue over items that often have little monetary value. Delaying divorce proceedings due to this reason can cause legal bills to mount up extensively and really shows how bitter and nasty some divorce cases can become.
The law firm responsible for publishing the study have told of how their past clients delayed divorce proceedings in order to argue over litter trays, hairdryers and other items low in monetary value.
The division of assets and possessions can usually be dealt with simply which is why people often focus on the small inexpensive possessions to argue over. Couples often become determined not to give in.
The law firm who released the study published a list of strange items that they have seen clients argue over which included a cat litter tray. The lawyers have suggested that although the items may have seemed ridiculous to the outside viewer often they were of sentimental value to the clients.
Other items that have been argued over include a set of spoons, Jacuzzi and a set of board games used by a couple when their grandchildren were present.
One couple were even reported to have argued over a Jacuzzi after dividing up their 3 million luxury home.
Divorce is often a roller coaster ride for those involved and emotions are typically up and down. Arguments like this are often more about the divorce itself than the actual items themselves.
