Everyone desires a car that is free of dust and stains, but looking after cars is a rather difficult job. If your aim is to make your car look fresh, make it survive longer, or even get a decent price when you resell it, then you will have to spend some time and energy on taking care of it.

Due to prolonged usage, the car gets scarred by scratches and stains leaving it with a lack-lustre appearance, particularly if its existing colour is gradually fading off. A comprehensive car care routine including car wash, waxing, and car polishing can bring back the shine of your vehicle.

You first have to remove all the dirt through an extensive car wash with sufficient water and shampoo, after which you need to decide upon either waxing or polishing it. There exists a great amount of confusion among car owners about when the car needs to be polished and when to apply car wax. It is important for you as the owner of the car to have a clear idea about what the needs of your car are.

Car wax contains carnauba and other wax ingredients, which make the car glisten and shine. However, car waxes lack abrasive agents and so they cannot clean the more prominent stains. Moreover, they are not capable of withstanding harsh sunlight.

However, car polish contains ingredients like Teflon, which increase its strength, giving an ever- lasting shiny appearance to your car. Scratches and stains on the car's exterior are also better hidden with polish.

When polishing the blend edges, work away from the boundary. Hand glaze the blend edge. It is more advisable instead of machine polish. When you have to hand glaze, always a fabric that is not rough and be sure it is clean for both the coating and when taking the glaze off.

As a rule of thumb, if your car is constantly exposed to the daily grind on dusty roads, car polishing is the ideal solution. Car wax provides your car with a short-term gloss for certain occasions, but it is not a very good protection on a regular basis. Therefore, you have to identify the needs of your car taking into account its model and your lifestyle, and then adopt a makeover that not only gives your car a fresh look but also makes it suitable for long term use.
