Glycerine is an emollient that is typically seen in moisturizers and other Eczema creams. It is a derivative of animal or vegetable oils, and has been tested effective in addressing dryness. Eczema is frequently related with dry and itchy skin. As an ingredient of Eczema cream, glycerine heals chafed skin by helping it draw in and retain moisture.
Glycerin Eczema creams work best on our skin after taking a shower. It works by trapping in moisture and keeps it from escaping our skin. Cleanse your skin with a moisturizing soap or a soap-free cleanser. Sponges, loofahs and brushes are abrasive on the skin and should not be used when you have Eczema. Use your hands to apply soap instead. Some Eczema patients have discovered the benefits of using essential oils while bathing.
Stay away from heavily perfumed products, and choose alcohol-free items instead. Natural, non-comedogenic and fragrance-free products are your best bet. Using cosmetics is discouraged, but you may try organic make-up if you want. Each person may react differently to a certain product, which is why it is important to do a skin test first when using something for the first time. Stop using a product if you develop an allergic reaction.
Use a mild detergent to wash your clothes. Remember to rinse them well; making sure that any traces of soap residue are removed. Do the same with your bed sheets, pillowcases and linens. These items are always in contact with your skin, so they should be free from any irritants.
Decide carefully when buying clothes. Man-made fibers can be itchy on skin. There's no need to purchase expensive clothes made of organic cotton. Clothes made of 100% cotton will do. Stay away from polyester and wool particularly during warm and humid weather. Eczema rashes can become worse when exposed to extreme temperatures, so remember to dress suitably for the weather.
